Welcome to the all new Boatbreakers website. We thought that it was time to freshen things up and help make it even easier for you to use.
A Busy 2019
It’s been an extremely busy year for us already in 2019 and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Boat breaking and abandoned boats are slowly creeping into people’s consciousness. More boats are becoming end of life and are being dumped into the country’s rivers, canals, harbours and beaches. This then means councils and taxpayers money is being used to clear up other people’s mess.
The public opinion and awareness of ocean plastics has been heightened in recent years so it’s only a matter of time before they realise abandoned boats are a big problem too. A big problem that is only going to get worse the longer it’s left.
Awareness of Boat Breaking
This year we are featuring on the second series of Scrap Kings and we are being contacted by journalists who want to do features on the growing issue of abandoned boats. The Queen’s Harbour Master in Portsmouth Harbour has also banned dead boats from being kept on moorings so this will soon force people’s hand in getting rid of their problem boats. All of these will hopefully help to raise the awareness of boat breaking and Boatbreakers in particular.
We are also looking into creating some t-shirts or merchandise to sell that will help fund the boat disposal process. So stay tuned for that too!
