Wooden Boat Disposal from Oxfordshire Garage

Wooden Boat Disposal

Not every boat that we scrap is in a boat yard. More often they are in people’s gardens, garages or driveways. This one was a little wooden launch buried in garage. From the pictures we had been sent the trailer looked to be in ok condition. However we very rarely like to take a chance with trailers that haven’t been moved in a while. Over the years we have had some trailers almost collapse on us. So we always try and load the whole lot onto a flat trailer.

We think that the owner wanted to have the wooden boat disposed of to get some room back in the garage. The boat hadn’t been on the water for a number of years. With old wooden boats like this they can dry out and no longer be usable without considerable attention.

Garage Paraphernalia

As always our collection team made light work of the process. We arranged a time to be with the owner and parked up our flat bed trailer close to the garage. Then once the various items like tools and other garage paraphernalia were removed we simply pulled her out by hand. It was an extremely light boat so it was loaded with ease.

Once we had returned back to base we removed the wooden boat from the trailer. The wooden hull can be recycled any metal fixings would also be removed. Her trailer we have kept and we currently use as a yard trailer. This too will either be sold on or will go with the metal recycling.

If you have an old boat that is sat gathering dust in your garage then get in contact. Our team would be happy to work out a price and plan to rid you of the problem vessel. We’ve been pulling boats out of gardens and garages across the UK for years. Even with the TV cameras following us on Scrap Kings. Just fill in our scrap calculator form and we will do the rest.

Without Luke we would be lost, he runs the office, keeps us organised and is like a terrier and never lets a tricky boat disposal job go un-photographed or Tweeted about.

He also manages all of our enquiries passing them to whoever in the team is the best suited to deal with it. We are teaching Luke how to drive a motorboat or sail a yacht so while he’s learning we suggest you keep out of the Solent!

When he’s not at work he’s a massive football fan (his Dad used to play for Portsmouth FC years ago) and seems to know everything there is to know about any player, anywhere. Next time you ring and he answers, think of a tricky football trivia question and ask him
