Clearing the Club Yard: Scrapping an Abandoned Yacht in Poole
Clearing the Club Yard: Rescuing an Abandoned Bilge Keel Yacht in Poole
Every busy yacht club deals with the occasional abandoned vessel taking up valuable space. Recently, the Boatbreakers team traveled down to the prestigious Parkstone Yacht Club in Poole to handle just such a clearance: a small bilge keel yacht that had been left behind with nowhere to go.
Left Behind in Poole
The yacht had sat abandoned in the club’s storage yard for quite some time. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, the club management had no luck tracking down the owner. Furthermore, attempts to give the boat away to someone looking for a project also fell completely flat.
Because unclaimed boats take up precious room, the club faced an unwanted expense. Instead of letting the forgotten hull continue to sit and gather dust, the team reached out to Boatbreakers to finally get the vessel cleared.
Dropping the Mast and Loading Up
Working closely with the yard staff, we coordinated a smooth removal process. First, the yard team expertly dropped the yacht’s mast, making her safe and road-ready. Once the mast was down, our team positioned our flatbed trailer and carefully loaded the abandoned bilge keel yacht aboard.
Ultimately, while paying to remove an abandoned boat is never an ideal expense for a yacht club, this clearance brought a very welcome silver lining. With the old hull finally gone, the club recovered valuable yard space. Now, they can put a paying customer’s boat in for winter storage instead.
Whether you manage a commercial yard, a sailing club, or a private marina, Boatbreakers is always ready to step in, clear out unwanted vessels, and help you reclaim your space.
