Beneteau Antares 620 Imported from Guernsey
Rescuing a Beneteau Antares 620: Guernsey to the UK Mainland
Every so often, a boat crosses our path that completely defies the scrapyard fate. Recently, the Boatbreakers team took on a unique cross-channel rescue: importing a pristine Beneteau Antares 620 fishing boat all the way from Guernsey.
Unfortunately, the owner found himself in a frustrating situation. Since he was unable to find a buyer locally in Guernsey, he faced mounting mooring fees with no end in sight. Desperate for an escape from those continuous costs, he reached out to see if we could take her off his hands. However, after reviewing the initial photos, our team quickly realised she definitely wasn’t one to scrap. Instead, we offered to take her on under a different arrangement: we would handle the logistics, bring her over to the UK, and try to sell her on.
Navigating Logistics and Red Tape
Naturally, bringing a boat across the channel is rarely a walk in the park. This operation proved quite tricky, requiring careful coordination to ensure every piece of customs paperwork was entirely correct. Beyond the legalities, we had to meticulously arrange the safe loading of the vessel and coordinate the complex transport logistics required to get a boat back onto the ferry.
Fortunately, after a few weeks of persistent organising, planning, and paperwork, everything clicked into place. Thus, we successfully managed to get her back to the UK mainland.
A Quick Turnaround
Because the Beneteau Antares 620 arrived in remarkably good condition, she didn’t stay with us for long. We found a buyer for her fairly quickly, a savvy trader wanting to purchase the boat to resell down in Cornwall.
Ultimately, it was a fantastic outcome all around. The Guernsey owner finally escaped his relentless mooring fees, the bureaucratic hurdles were successfully cleared, and this classic fishing boat got a second lease on life rather than being broken down.
