Sunken Fishing Boat Recovered from Lymington

Sunken Fishing Boat Recovery

One of our latest collections has been months in the making. A small, fast fishing vessel was successfully recovered from a boat yard in Lymington. After succumbing to severe weather conditions in 2024 she sank on her mooring before being salvaged to the yard. There she had sat whilst the insurance comapny decided what they wanted to do with her until finally making the call for disposal.

Our recovery team was dispatched to the scene to undertake the recovery operation. The marina team had the boat ready in their large forklift to load onto our waiting trailer. Upon loading the boat, the extent of the water damage became apparent, necessitating the deployment of a pump to drain the last areas still holding some water.

Engine Removal for Spares

Prior to disposal of the boat, the vessel’s 150hp outboard engine was removed. The engine was lined up to be broken down for spare parts. Following the dewatering process and engine removal, the saturated hull was carefully lifted off of the trailer. And our machines began to break down the vessels so we could separate any recyclable materials.

The incident serves as a reminder of the potential hazards posed by sudden changes in weather conditions at sea. It also is a good reminder to make sure you have your boat insured. As the costs alone of salvaging the boat to get her in a position for collection can be high.
