Wilson Flyer Fishing Boat Scrapped in Southsea

Wilson Flyer Disposal
Our Marine recycling and boat disposal team were in Southsea to collect an old Wilson Flyer for scrap. Her owner had call us to say that he would like his boat removed from the marina. It was a much loved (and used) boat but it was now costing too much to fix up and store.
After looking at the Wilson Flyer we could see that the engine was in bits and the there were multiple areas that needed attention on the deck. Before removal we soft stripped the boat and removed some brass fittings and electronics. Like most fishing boats there’s never too much to salvage. Many of these type of boats will have old tech and few fittings worth recovering to sell.
Distinctive Catherdal hull
The Wilson Flyer is a renowned British-built fishing and pleasure boat, known for its robust GRP construction and distinctive cathedral hull. This design provides a dry, smooth ride while offering excellent stability for angling. With a spacious cockpit and often a small cabin, they are popular for both serious fishing and leisurely cruises.
She was already out of the water in the marina. This meant that the collection using the Hiab truck was fairly straightforward. Because of the boat’s cathedral hull she sat comfortably on tyres and blocks. We are sure the marina will be happy to get some space back from the boat. Plus it removes the risk of it becoming an abandoned boat.

It's not an unusual sight to see boats in people's front gardens, especially on the South Coast. However, when the boat is a 37ft fin keel yacht it becomes quite an imposing landmark. The boat had been in her current position since 2006 when she was taken out of the water and onto the stand so her owner could carry out repair works to her.
