High-Land Delivery: Removing an Abandoned Fishing Boat in Remote Ellenabeich, Scotland

Boat removals sometimes take our crew far beyond our usual local routes. Recently, the Boatbreakers team packed our tools and headed up north on a truly memorable trip to Scotland. We were called in to clear away an old abandoned boat located in Ellenabeich, a picturesque former slate mining village on the Isle of Seil.

Clearing Inherited Land in Ellenabeich

The backstory started when a property and plot of land were recently inherited by a new owner. While inheriting land is usually an exciting milestone, it often comes with a few unexpected historical artefacts, in this case, an old, weathered small fishing boat left sitting on the property.

Wanting to clear the land and start fresh, the new owner reached out to Boatbreakers. Fortunately, we love a good road trip and were more than happy to help clear the space.

A Tight Spot and a Rusty Trailer

When our team arrived on-site in Scotland, we quickly realised this wasn’t a standard park-and-hook collection. Access to the specific spot was exceptionally tight. Furthermore, the boat’s trailer was completely seized and extremely rusty after years of exposure to the elements.

Because manoeuvring or loading the hull onto another trailer in such a confined space proved too tricky, the crew broke out the cutting tools. Working methodically, the team chopped the old fishing boat up right there on-site, breaking her down into manageable pieces that could be easily loaded away.

A Scenic Scottish Adventure

Despite the hard graft, the team thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The journey through the stunning Scottish countryside proved to be a real treat, and working in the historic slate mining village of Ellenabeich offered a backdrop unlike any other job.

Ultimately, the inherited land was cleared of the unwanted boat. Ready for the owner’s next chapter. Whether your boat is tucked away in a tight residential driveway down south or sitting in a remote, rugged location anywhere across Scotland. Boatbreakers is always ready to travel and help clear the clutter.
