Jaguar 21 Collected from a Gosport Mooring
Nothing runs smoother than a local collection for us from a Gosport mooring. We will usually have the boat towed in by our local yard, mast down and lifted out onto our transport. Then we have the short journey to our boat recycling yard. And this was the case for a Jaguar 21 that we scrapped in February.
The boat breaking team had been contacted by the Jaguar 21 owner over the phone. He explained that he had a boat that he was no longer using and that he wanted scrapped. We believe he had tried to sell but with no luck and he didn’t want the boat to just be taken away and abandoned by someone who got her cheap.
Weather Played Ball
We explained that we could have her away within a week or two and all he had to do was remove any personal items he wanted to keep. Once we had the go ahead we lined up the tow boat to come and collect her. Luckily the weather played ball and she was removed by water as planned. The moorings she was on will be happy as it was a private club who are always looking to move boats on. Just so they can offer spaces to new members.
Once the boat was alongside at the boat yard we carried out a soft strip of the boat. The team removed her outboard engine which seemed to be in good condition. As well as a few Garmin electronics. Old yachts can usually be fully of interesting and useful parts but this Jaguar 21 didn’t really have much on board. One part we did save thought was the mast and boom. both were Z Spars and looked almost new. At the time of writing these have been listed for sale and we hope a boat owner can benefit from getting a great mast at a cheap price.
Boat Breaking
The team winched her lifting keel up into the boat to make transporting her a little easier. With the keel up inside the boat she sat comfortably on some old tyres on the back of the truck. With the boat already soft stripped and all mechanical parts removed she was sent on to our boat breaking site.
