“Scrap Kings”- Boatbreakers TV Debut

Boatbreakers had an interesting week as the team featured on Quest’s new series Scrap Kings for the first time. The new show aims to showcase different companies in the scrap business across the UK.

We should feature twice in the series as we were filmed crushing a number of boats on two separate shoots. Despite the obvious initial shock of seeing ourselves on TV we thought we came across ok as we tried to give some background on why we scrap boats.

The second episode we feature on is also an interesting watch as it really was a shame to scrap the boat that is featured. On the surface the classic wooden boat seemed to be in fairly good condition but there was more to it than met the eye.

In the shows first episode of the 8-part series, Boatbreakers made our appearance alongside two demolition companies who were dealing with a motorway bridge and a building. We think that we will feature next on Tuesday 10th October at 9pm.

If you enjoyed the show and you have an end of life boat that you need to scrap then visit our Scrap Boat page and fill in our Scrap Calculator. We can deal with all types of boat including yachts, motorboats, narrowboats, tugs, dinghies, catamarans and more.

Where To Watch

Quest can be found on Sky: 144, Virgin: 172, Freeview: 37, Freesat: 167. Or you can watch online here. The show was filmed by Back2Back Productions Ltd. who have kindly allowed us to use screenshots from the show.

Without Luke we would be lost, he runs the office, keeps us organised and is like a terrier and never lets a tricky boat disposal job go un-photographed or Tweeted about.

He also manages all of our enquiries passing them to whoever in the team is the best suited to deal with it. We are teaching Luke how to drive a motorboat or sail a yacht so while he’s learning we suggest you keep out of the Solent!

When he’s not at work he’s a massive football fan (his Dad used to play for Portsmouth FC years ago) and seems to know everything there is to know about any player, anywhere. Next time you ring and he answers, think of a tricky football trivia question and ask him
