Hunter Duette 23 Removed from Thornham
Hunter Duette 23 from Thornham
The Boat breakers team were in Thornham to remove a Hunter Duette yacht for her owner. The boat had been up for sale for a number of months and sadly there was just no interest. We had spoken to the owner a few months before and he wanted to give her one last push. Sadly there wasn’t any interest in taking her on.
There were a few nice items for us to salvage from her. A couple of winches, an outboard motor, some chain, and deck fittings. As well as some nice new batteries. We always try to save anything that we think
Popular British Cruiser
The Hunter Duette 23 is a popular British-built cruising yacht, often featuring twin bilge keels, which allows for shallow draft and the ability to dry out upright. Ideal for areas like the Norfolk Broads. Designed by David Thomas, she is essentially the cruising variant of the Hunter Sonata. Measuring around 23 feet in length, this GRP-hulled sloop typically accommodates four berths. Owners praise her predictable handling, stability, and good performance for a compact family cruiser. Many are powered by an outboard engine mounted in a cockpit well.
Whist we were busy stripping down the Hunter Duette we were joined by a resident cat. After accepting lots of fuss from the team we did have to make sure he wasn’t left inside the yacht. The last thing we wanted was having to repatriate a cat back from the scrapyard.
No More Boating Bills
Despite it being a shame for the Hunter’s owner to see her go. He was relieved at no longer having the monthly overheads of boat storage and maintenance. If you have a boat you can’t sell or can’t sail then get in contact. Don’t keep pouring money down the drain. We can usually have a boat away from the yard within a fortnight of confirmation.
