Essex Boat Collection & Recycling
Essex Boat Recycling
Bringing a neglected boat back to life requires time, energy, and constant maintenance. When those fall away, a project vessel can quickly become a permanent, rotting fixture on a driveway. That was precisely the case for a small yacht in Essex that had spent several years slowly deteriorating on its owner’s residential property.
When the owner finally decided it was time to clear his driveway and let the boat go, he reached out to the Boatbreakers team for a solution. However, residential boat collections can often be tricky and costly, especially when specialized machinery like a heavy Hiab crane truck is needed to navigate tight garden spaces and perform lifts.
Farmer to the Rescue
Fortunately, this job had a uniquely helpful twist. The owner’s property directly bordered a working farm with heavy agricultural machinery on site. Rather than hiring an expensive crane rig, the friendly local farmer offered to step in and handle the lifting logistics.
With the plan in place and the owner’s green light, we dispatched one of our team members up to Essex with a flatbed trailer. Upon arrival, the farmer was ready and waiting with a massive telehandler. Using the agricultural loader, he carefully hoisted the small yacht out of the garden and positioned her directly onto our flatbed trailer with total precision.
Once the boat was safely resting on the trailer, our driver strapped her down securely for the long journey back to our facility for dismantling and eco-friendly processing.
Costs to a Minimum
The farmer’s generosity made a huge difference to the job’s logistics and bottom line. Without his help and equipment, we would have been forced to send our larger Hiab crane truck, which would have significantly added to the overall transport and disposal expenses. Thanks to a great neighbour, the owner got his driveway back while keeping his disposal costs to an absolute minimum.
