Back Garden Boat Removal in Birkenhead
Birkenhead Project Boat Removal
Not every boat disposal takes place at a bustling marina or coastal yard. Sometimes the Boatbreakers team has to head inland to tackle a far more tricky location. That was recently the case when we traveled to Birkenhead to clear an old project boat tucked away in the back garden of a residential property.
The homeowner had originally bought the vessel with big creative ambitions. Turning her into a unique garden feature, a backyard pub, or a cozy glamping cabin. However, after sitting in the garden for a number of years, the harsh reality set in. The boat was already in far worse structural condition than first realised. And the time, effort, and money required to make the space usable just wasn’t justifiable. Realising the project had run its course, he called us in to take her away.
Access Issues
The biggest hurdle wasn’t the boat itself, but the access. The vessel had originally been tracked into the garden using a small digger during a major landscaping renovation. Since then, the homeowner had built new decking and garden structures, completely blocking any vehicle or machinery access. With no path to roll or crane the boat out in one piece, the only way out was in bits.
Equipped with specialised cutting gear and protective equipment, our crew got straight to work on-site. We systematically cut the hull and deck down into small, manageable chunks. Carefully carrying each piece across the new decking without causing a scratch to the garden. Every section was loaded into our van to be transported back to our facility for final recycling and material processing.
Cleared Garden
It was a complete transformation for the homeowner, who finally got his garden space back without damaging his new landscaping.
