GP14 Sailing Dinghy Disposal from Netley

GP14 Disposal
Our boat disposal team were in Netley to remove a GP14 sailing dinghy. We always enjoy a dinghy collection as the loading process is usually a hands on affair. This GP14 was no different. With the owner’s help we hauled her out of the sailing club. Then with our collection trailer waiting we lifted her on and strapped her down.
The GP14, a 14-foot sailing dinghy designed in 1949 by Jack Holt, is celebrated for its exceptional versatility. It seamlessly transitions between leisurely family cruising and competitive racing, accommodating a wide range of sailing preferences. Its design allows for rowing, sailing, or even motor propulsion, further enhancing its adaptability. Available in wood or fiberglass construction, the GP14 offers diverse material choices, while its standard rig, comprising a mainsail, genoa, and spinnaker, delivers a dynamic sailing experience.
Staple in Sailing Communities
Boasting a strong class association and global popularity, with over 14,000 units built, the GP14 has solidified its position as a favoured two-person dinghy. Its enduring appeal is rooted in its dual-purpose design, robust construction options, and engaging sailing characteristics, making it a staple in sailing communities worldwide.
Netley Cliff Sailing Club, nestled on Southampton Water’s shores, offers a vibrant sailing community. It caters to diverse skill levels, from beginners to seasoned racers, primarily focusing on dinghy sailing. The club fosters a friendly atmosphere, hosting regular races, training sessions, and social events, all against a picturesque backdrop.

One thing that the Boatbreakers team have learnt is that scrap boats never come quietly. Even a small speedboat on a trailer can cause problems as we found out this week. We were asked to remove a boat from Trafalgar Wharf in Portchester by solicitors who were dealing with the estate of a gentleman who'd sadly passed away.
