Tomahawk 25 Disposal in Portsmouth Harbour
The Boat disposal team had a local yacht to sort and this time it was a Tomahawk 25. The boat itself wasn’t too bad as scrap boats go but it was more her location and circumstances that meant she ended up being scrapped. Her owner lived away from the area and could no longer get down to keep the boat ship shape. Added to that she was in a secure military run marina which make it difficult to even view the boat. In the middle of winter with named storm after named storm we were reluctant to risk moving her to a swing mooring. She was definitely more secure where she was moored.
Recoverable Items
With a swift solution required for the Tomahawk 25 our team arranged for the boat to be towed away for disposal. Our plan of action was simple. Bring her alongside to a location that we could strip the recoverable items. Then have the mast dropped and the boat loaded onto transport. She was then taken to the boat disposal yard for dismantling.
Among the items that we recovered from the Tomahawk 25 was a nice spray hood, engine, tiller, cooker and some winches. Her interior was slightly tired but this is to be expected for a boat of this age. Her owner didn’t want to have a long drawn out sales process and definitely no trips up and down to the boat show potential buyers.
